iPhone 15 Plus Long-Term Review: My Experience After 2 Years and 10 Months

I have been using the iPhone 15 Plus for almost three years. I bought it through Flipkart in October 2023, within about a month of its launch. After using many Android phones for years, I wanted to try an iPhone.

In this article, I am sharing my real experience with the iPhone 15 Plus, including battery life, performance, camera, display, gaming, charging and the things I like and don’t like.

Why I Bought the iPhone 15 Plus

For a long time, I wanted to use an iPhone after using different Android smartphones. Initially, I considered getting an iPhone base model because the Pro models were outside my budget. However, I wanted a large display and good battery life, so I decided to go with the iPhone 15 Plus. I bought the phone through Flipkart in October 2023, shortly after the iPhone 15 series launched. After I started using it, one thing that immediately impressed me was the battery backup. I also liked its overall performance, camera, speed, build quality and display.

iPhone 15 Plus Battery Life After 2 Years and 10 Months

Battery life is probably the thing I like most about the iPhone 15 Plus. After almost three years of use, I have not experienced any major drop in battery backup. I normally use the phone for:

  • Phone calls
  • Banking apps
  • Photos
  • Music
  • Facebook
  • Instagram
  • YouTube
  • Other social media apps
  • General browsing

My children also use the phone to play Roblox for around one hour a day. Currently, the Battery Health is 87%, and the battery cycle count is around 908 cycles. There is obviously a small reduction in battery backup compared with when I first bought the phone. But honestly,

I don’t feel it much during normal daily use because the battery backup is still very good. I have not replaced the battery yet.

Is the iPhone 15 Plus battery still good after almost 3 years?

Yes.

Based on my experience, the battery performance is still one of the strongest points of the iPhone 15 Plus.

Performance After Almost 3 Years

The performance is another area where I am very happy with this phone. Even after using it for almost three years, I haven’t experienced any noticeable performance drop. I haven’t experienced any major lag during normal use. App opening speed is still good, and banking applications open quickly using Face ID. One feature I particularly like is the Face ID speed. When I pick up the phone, Face ID detects my face quickly and unlocks the phone without any noticeable delay. Even after almost three years, the phone still feels fast in everyday use.

iPhone 15 Plus Display Experience

I haven’t had any problems with the display during these almost three years. The display is still working perfectly, and I haven’t experienced any major display-related issue. However, when I compare it directly with my Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, I feel that the screen colours on the Samsung look better. The iPhone 15 Plus has a 60Hz display, but personally, 60Hz has never felt like a major problem to me. The display still feels smooth during normal usage. For watching videos, browsing social media, reading and everyday use, I am satisfied with it.

Gaming Performance

I have played BGMI on the iPhone 15 Plus and didn’t experience noticeable lag during my usage. I don’t play heavy games regularly, so my gaming experience is limited. My children regularly play Roblox on the phone, usually for around an hour a day. For the games I have used, the combination of the display and performance has been very good. If you are a casual or moderate gamer, I think the iPhone 15 Plus still offers good performance.

Camera Experience After Almost 3 Years

The camera experience has been good overall. Since the iPhone 15 Plus is not a Pro model, there are some limitations compared with the Pro models. For example, you don’t get the same camera flexibility and features that you get with an iPhone Pro. However, for normal photography, I can still take good-quality photos with the iPhone 15 Plus. For everyday photos, family photos, social media and general use, I am still satisfied with the camera.

One thing I don’t like

The selfie camera image quality is one area where I feel it could be better. This is one of the things I would improve if I were choosing the phone again.

Video Quality After Almost 3 Years

One of the things that continues to impress me about the iPhone 15 Plus is its video quality. The video quality from both the front and rear cameras is excellent. Even after almost three years, I am very happy with the quality of the videos I record. The rear camera produces detailed and stable videos with good colours, while the front camera also delivers very good-quality video for selfies, video calls and social media content. For someone who records videos regularly, I think the iPhone 15 Plus is still a very capable phone. Even though it is not a Pro model, video recording is one area where I feel the iPhone 15 Plus performs really well.

My personal experience

Photos: Very good
Rear camera video: Excellent
Front camera video: Excellent
Everyday recording: Excellent

Charging Experience

The USB-C port is very convenient for me. I use a Samsung original Super Fast Charger with the iPhone 15 Plus, and I haven’t experienced any slow-charging problem during my usage. With optimized charging enabled, the phone charges quickly up to around 80%. I also sometimes charge the phone overnight. One thing I noticed is that when taking continuous photos or videos while the phone is charging, I can feel some heat around the back, particularly near the right side of the camera area. However, I normally use a silicone back cover, so I don’t notice the heat very strongly during regular use.

iOS Experience

I regularly install software updates when they become available. My current phone is running iOS 26.5, and overall, my software experience has been good. I get most of the iOS features available for the phone, except for some newer AI features that are available on supported Pro models. The phone continues to feel smooth even after almost three years of software updates. This is one of the reasons I am still comfortable using the iPhone 15 Plus as my main phone.

SIM, eSIM and 5G Experience

I use both a physical SIM and eSIM. My network experience has been very good, and I haven’t faced any major network-related problems. I also use 5G through eSIM, and the experience has been good. During my usage, I haven’t noticed any major connectivity problem with mobile networks.

Wi-Fi and Connectivity

Wi-Fi connectivity has also been excellent for me. The connection speed has been good, and during almost three years of usage, I haven’t experienced any major Wi-Fi connectivity problems. Overall, the connectivity experience has been reliable.

Things I Like About the iPhone 15 Plus

After using this phone for almost three years, these are the things I like most:

  • Excellent battery backup
  • Smooth performance
  • Fast app opening
  • Very fast Face ID
  • Good display
  • Good camera for everyday photography
  • Good gaming performance
  • USB-C connectivity
  • Reliable 5G and Wi-Fi
  • Good build quality
  • Long-term software support
  • Still feels fast after almost three years

Things I Don’t Like

The phone is not perfect. There are a few things I don’t like.

Selfie camera

I feel the selfie camera could be better.

5GB iCloud storage

The free 5GB iCloud storage is another limitation. For example, WhatsApp backup on iPhone uses iCloud, and the free storage can quickly become insufficient. If you need more iCloud storage, you need to pay for a higher storage plan.

No app cloning

Compared with some Samsung phones, iPhone doesn’t offer the same kind of built-in app cloning feature. However, this is less of a problem for me now because many social media apps allow multiple accounts to be added within the same app.

Is the iPhone 15 Plus Still Good After Almost 3 Years?

In my experience, yes.

This is probably the biggest positive thing I can say about this phone. After using it for almost three years, I haven’t experienced a major performance problem, battery problem, display problem or connectivity problem. The phone still feels fast, the battery is still good, Face ID works quickly, and the camera is still capable of taking good photos. Of course, newer iPhones have newer features and improvements. But if you already own an iPhone 15 Plus, I don’t think you need to replace it just because it is almost three years old.

iPhone 15 Plus still fast after almost 3 years with smooth performance and Face ID

Would I Recommend the iPhone 15 Plus?

Yes, I would recommend it.

Based on my almost three years of personal experience, the iPhone 15 Plus has been a reliable phone. The battery life, performance, Face ID, display, build quality and long-term software experience are the things I appreciate most. If you want a large-screen iPhone with excellent battery life and don’t specifically need Pro camera features, the iPhone 15 Plus is still a good option.

My Final Verdict

After almost 2 years and 10 months of daily use, I am still happy with my iPhone 15 Plus. I bought it because I wanted to experience an iPhone with a large display and good battery life, and it has delivered exactly that. The battery is still good at 87% health after around 908 cycles, performance is still smooth, and I haven’t experienced any major hardware problems.

Would I recommend it? Yes.

Would I buy the same model again? Based on my experience, I would seriously consider it especially if battery life and a large display are more important to me than Pro camera features.
